After beating Miami, Is Virginia Tech now the team to beat in the Coastal?

VT_Hodges

Just a quick post for tonight. After Virginia Tech beat Miami 37-16 to move to 5-2 (3-1), are the Hokies now the team to beat in the Coastal? Duke, Georgia Tech, and Miami already have 3 losses. Virginia is 2-4. They’ve already beat North Carolina and own the tie-breaker over them. For the all the Coastal Chaos we keep hearing about, the last three years the Coastal Division champion has never lost more than 2 conference game. Virginia Tech despite last week’s loss to Syracuse looks like the most complete team in the Coastal.

Offensively they are better than have been in years. Jerod Evans has been solid at QB, and they have a good running game to go with it.

The defense is still a recruiting class or two from being vintage a Virginia Tech unit, but Bud Foster still coaches them into a pretty good defense.

If Virginia Tech can win win at Pittsburgh next Thursday, and they have had difficulty winning there, then Hokie fans can start making reservations for Orlando. As my blog partner @Hokiesmash says if Virginia Tech truly wants to show progress this year – winning at Pittsburgh is a must.
