1) Clemson: 56-10 win over Boston College
Clemson is starting to play some of their best football of year. The offense has come together the last two weeks, and the defensive front 4 might be the best in college football. It was a dominant win over BC.
2) Louisville: BYE
Louisville is back to action after a BYE week. I have a feeling they have put the Clemson loss behind them and are going to start just rolling through the rest of their schedule in hopes of making the playoffs.
3) Virginia Tech: 34-3 win over North Carolina
Who cares if it was raining is Chapel Hill, this Virginia Tech team crushed the Tar Heels. The Hokies are playing very well, and once the turnovers stopped happening Virginia Tech started looking like a top 15 team. You don’t want to play them right now.
4) Florida State: 20-19 win over Miami
That was a gutty win FSU had over Miami on the road. When the Noles are on they can play with anyone. When they are off, well you know. Watch out if FSU starts playing more consistently. Improved Wake Forest is this week.
5) Miami: 19-20 loss to Florida State
Miami already looks a like Mark Richt’s Georgia team – dismissing players and losing big games. Not going to sugar coat this… Miami blew a big chance against FSU. That said Richt is light years better than Al Golden.
6) North Carolina: 3-34 loss to Virginia Tech
That was an ugly loss to Virginia Tech. The Heels are still a dangerous team, but their Coastal Division hopes will go down the drain if they lose at Miami.
7) NC State: 10-3 win over Notre Dame
NC State is the only team to beat Wake Forest, and they just defeated Notre Dame. They’ll have Clemson’s full attention this week.
8) Wake Forest: 28-9 win over Syracuse
The Deacs are a legit 5-1. Look at their schedule and tell me the Deacs can’t go 8-4. Dave Clawson is on the short list for ACC COY. FSU this week might be beyond their reach, but this is a nice team.
9) Pittsburgh: 37-34 win over Georgia Tech
I don’t trust the Panthers defense, but on offense they are a load to handle. They better not overlook this week’s game at Virginia.
10) Georgia Tech: 34-37 loss to Pittsburgh
The Yellow Jackets had Pittsburgh beat late, but a deflected pass and questionable 4th down call has the Yellow Jacket’s season on the brink of spiraling out control. If Georgia Tech loses to Georgia Southern, it will get real ugly in Atlanta for Paul Johnson.
11) Virginia: BYE
We are going to find out a lot about Virginia this week as they host Pittsburgh. The Hoos have won two in a row, after a 0-3 start.
12) Duke: 9-28 loss to Wake Forest
I think Duke is one of the ACC’s bottom tier teams. Duke beat Notre Dame in South Bend, but playing an angry Louisville team on the road probably isn’t going to go well.
13) Syracuse: 9-28 loss to Wake Forest
Dino Babers has put some excitement back into the Orange’s offense, but not against the stringy Wake Forest D last week.
14) Boston College: 10-56 loss to Clemson
Boston College was no match for Clemson. Honestly they didn’t look like they even belonged on the field with the Tigers.
