Florida State still owns Miami.

FSUMIAMI

Miami had everything to play for. They could have stamped themselves a true contender in the Coastal, maybe even move towards being a darkhorse playoff team. Finally they had a chance to end a long 6 game losing to their hated arch rival Florida State.

The Noles had lost their chance for the playoffs, and mostly likely had no chance at the ACC Atlantic Division. They were coming off a heartbreaking loss to UNC, and now they had to go on the road to play at Miami.

This was Miami’s game to win, but no one told that to Florida State who continued their domination of the Canes with a 20-19 win. When all was said and done – Florida State still owns Miami.

Florida State was the tougher team down the stretch. FSU QB Deondre Francois took hit after hit but still led the Noles to the 2nd half comeback. Dalvin Cook ran hard and wore down Miami’s defense. The Canes still had their chance to tie the game, but had the tying XP point blocked.

For Mark Richt, he must have felt like he was back at Georgia – where time after time his Bulldog teams often wilted against ranked teams especially the last few years of his tenure. This loss will burn Miami fans and players, because so much was stake, and Florida State took it all away.
