Good morning, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) fans. Just a really quick post this morning – we’re 14 Saturdays away from a full slate of college football (AC/DC is happy) – and I missed some ACC football news in the last couple of weeks. The ACC is going to partner again with the American Athletic Conference (AAC) in the St. Petersburg Bowl (in St. Petersburg, FL). The game will be on ESPN at 11 AM EST on December 26, 2016.
I love this opportunity for the ACC. People will be dying to watch college football the day after Christmas (ACC fans – some of them anyway – will need a break from the relatives lol – and they’ll get a chance to watch a decent football game). The AAC has probably been the best non-Power 5 conference over the last couple of years – and this game will be a good stage for the ACC. Plus, those ACC fans lucky enough to go to this game will have a great time in the greater Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL metro area (I’m sure the weather will be cooperative, too – I loved the greater Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL area when I visited for the Frozen Four).
This is nice move by John Swofford and the ACC. And I’m sure that whoever represents the ACC will have many fans in Florida.
