North Carolina is really good and they are on an absolute roll after ripping Miami to shreds.

Respect has been hard to come by for the Tar Heels. They just now entered the top 25 rankings of the College Football Playoffs. Their loss to a bad South Carolina team in their opening game has haunted them all year, but here is some news for you. North Carolina has a really good football team, and they are leaving the ACC Coastal Division in their wake.

Technically the Tar Heels haven’t clinched the ACC Coastal Division, but it’s hard envision the Heels losing their last two games against Virginia Tech and NC State, and Pittsburgh beating both Louisville and Miami to win the title. The Panthers have a had a nice season, but they need a lot of help to win the Coastal Division.

The Tar Heels are rolling and they getting better. They have 125 points in their last 2 games against Duke and Miami. That’s their 7th game in their last 9 where they have scored more than 35 points. The defense which was one the worst in the country has improved immensely under new DC Gene Chizik. Saturday was a 59-21 blowout of the Hurricanes.

Head Coach Larry Fedora entered the 2015 season with question marks surrounding his program, but to his credit he’s put together the best Tar Heel season since Mack Brown roamed the sidelines in the last 90s in Chapel Hill.

They are getting tremendous QB play from Marquise Williams. RB Elijah Hood is the ACC’s best running back this side of FSU’s Dalvin Cook. This offense has become a machine ranking at the top of the ACC and in the top 20 in the nation.

I feel safe in saying this team will make the ACC Title game, and make no mistake they can ruin Clemson’s playoff season should the Tigers enter the ACCCG undefeated. The Tar Heels are more than capable of taking advantage of the Clemson linebackers issues in pass coverage and pulling the upset on the Tigers.

Should that matchup happens, Clemson will need to play every bit as well as they did to beat Notre Dame and FSU to beat UNC.

Could a 12-1 UNC reach the playoffs? Let’s ask this question again if the Heels reach the top 10 before the the ACC Title, but honestly it will be a stretch. You never know though…

It’s a good time for Tar Heel fans. They have the #1 team in college basketball, and they have a football team that is probably the most dangerous team in the country that currently sits outside of the top 15.
