Just a quick post here – I’m not one who posts very often on college football award watch lists – I’m really one who thinks these award lists just give alumni, fans, and friends of the particular schools something to talk about over the summer until college football starts.
That said, it’s almost an extremely rare occurrence when a team’s ENTIRE DEFENSIVE LINE gets named to a watch list. That happened yesterday with my Hokies (yes, this is somewhat of a homer post here). Specifically, the U.S. Football Writers’ Association (@TheFWAA) announced that every player on the Virginia Tech Hokies football team defensive line is on the 2015 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The Bronko Nagurski trophy goes to the best defensive player in college football. Corey Marshall, Luther Maddy, Dadi Nicolas, and Ken Ekanem from Virginia Tech’s defensive line all made the watch list. Also making the watch list was Kendall Fuller (who @TalkinACCSports has as his best defensive back in the ACC). In total, 13 ACC players made the watch list (only two less than the Big 10 – and 7 less than the SEC).
That’s pretty terrific!!
Have a great weekend!!
