ACC Basketball Power Rankings – February 19, 2015

It was an exciting week in the Atlantic Coast Conference. We had upsets, overtimes, snowstorms, and a little basketball game in Durham between two Tobacco Road schools. We also had boogers. Let’s go to the videotape!

– Virginia – The Cavaliers had a couple of scares this week from Tobacco Road opponents, but held off the challenges to pick up a win on both occasions.

– Duke – It was a pretty good week for Duke. Beat Syracuse, check. Beat North Carolina, check. Get $27,000 from North Carolina to cover damages from the Heels’ “celebration” at Wallace Wade, check.

– Notre Dame – Pro tip to all the aspiring writers out there from a not-great writer such as myself: If you’re gonna criticize the ACC, make sure your team’s last two games weren’t “Get absolutely destroyed by Duke” and “Squeak past Clemson.”

– Louisville – Not a great week for the Cardinals, losing to both NC State and Syracuse.  But at least they didn’t hit nine cars in a Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

– North Carolina – A lot of fight in a tough overtime loss to Duke, but man, that Pittsburgh loss was nasty. Speaking of nasty…

– NC State – Who doesn’t love a perfectly executed pick-and-roll, like Cat Barber’s against Louisville? Coaches need to be sharing this clinical execution with their players at every level.

– Florida State – If the Seminoles basketball team won twice this week but a photo of a pudgy Jameis Winston hit Twitter, did it really happen?

– Pittsburgh – Pitt was nearly a Sarlacc for the ACC this week, defeating UNC before nearly upsetting Virginia.

– Syracuse –  Not to be outdone, Syracuse upset Louisville on Tuesday. Suddenly that doughy middle-of-the-pack in the conference is looking … well … competent. Ain’t that right, Jameis!

– Clemson – I think my favorite part of this Vine of Clemson being really bad at rebounding is Sidy Djitte briefly raising his right arm to sell the “It went off those guys!” call and even he was like “Nah, I probably shouldn’t.”

– Miami – A snowstorm may keep Boston College and Miami from playing at their regularly scheduled time, but it couldn’t keep the Hurricanes from picking up the road win. Don’t mess with meteorological events, BC.

– Virginia Tech – I’m a little puzzled by the Hokies this week. Instead of losing really close games they got blasted by Clemson and Miami. I do not like this character development.

– Wake Forest – The Demon Deacons forced me to tweet “NOT LIKE THIS WAKE FOREST” for the second time in as many weeks Saturday. This time, they insisted on losing like that against Virginia.

– Boston College – Olivier Hanlan scored 32 points against both Miami and Florida State, but the Eagles couldn’t win either game. Erick Green will be sending a sympathetic handwritten note to Chestnut Hill soon.

– Georgia Tech – Times are so tough at Georgia Tech, they are almost ready to give away tickets to games against Louisville and North Carolina. It’s been real, Brian Gregory.

Until next week, peace, love, and #goacc
