With the College World Series just around the corner, the ACC has two teams (UNC and NC State) that made the field of 8. The ACC, SEC, and Pac 12 have 6 of the 8 teams in the CWS proving those were the elite baseball playing conferences.
We are all well aware of the ACC’s infamous streak of 57 years since their last CWS title. The 1955 Wake Forest Demons are the most recent ACC team with a baseball national championship.
This year #1 overall seed North Carolina has advanced to Omaha without playing their best baseball. NC State has already broken one lengthy streak of futility by getting the Wolfpack back to the CWS for the first time since 1968.
Who will have the better tournament? UNC with their talented roster, but also with starting pitching that has struggled recently or NC State with nation’s most dominant pitcher Carlos Rodon and a deep bullpen, but a team that can have at times trouble scoring runs?
