GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami sophomore Shane Larkin has been named the ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Boston College’s Joe Rahon has been selected the conference’s Rookie of the Week.
Larkin averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 assists, 4.0 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 38.5 minutes for the Hurricanes, who scored a pair of road wins and climbed to No 8 in this week’s Associated Press rankings. Larkin hit 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the field, including 7-of-15 (.467) from 3-point range. At Virginia Tech, Larkin had 25 points, hitting a career-high five 3-pointers. At 5-11, Larkin used his 43-inch vertical to block back-to-back Hokie shots, his first-career game with a pair of swats. Against No. 19 NC State, Larkin notched five steals and five assists while pulling down three rebounds. He recorded 13 points, hitting 55.6 percent from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Rahon scored a season-high 26 points to lead Boston College past Clemson on Saturday afternoon. It was the most points scored by a freshman in the ACC this season. Rahon was 9-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-7 from beyond the arc. He also had four rebounds and four assists in the game. It marked the second time this year that Rahon connected on six 3-pointers.
