It will be just a short post for tonight, but what a wild night it was. Florida State’s Ian Miller drops a last second 3 point shot against Virginia, and Clemson hangs on for a two point over Virginia Tech. What does it mean?
In rallying from a down double digits in the last five minutes FSU when from an 8-9 seed to a 5-6 one. That was another road victory against a top 50 team and moves the Noles to 20-9 (11-4). For Virginia that’s the bubble over there. At 21-8 (8-7) they are in now, but how would the selection committee feel if UVA loses at Maryland Sunday and in the first round of the ACC Tournament?
Senior Day in Maryland is no gimme and anything can happen in the ACC Tournament. Lose their last two, and look at this record 21-10 (8-9), on a 4 game losing streak, losers of 7 of your last 10 and only 2 RPI top 50 wins? Even with a weak bubble, I don’t like those odds. Virginia better win one more game somehwere.
What about Clemson? They just went to 16-13 (8-7) with their win. The remarkable part is that if Clemson has a shot at 4th place in the ACC. That comes with a 1st round BYE. Honestly I don’t think they’ll pull it off. They’d have to win at Florida State Saturday for one thing. That’s not likely, but the fact that Brad Brownell has rallied team his to this position is a credit to the coaching job he’s done this year.
Virginia Tech lost another close game. I know shocker…
Oh man is the ACC tournament going to be fun.
