Last minute thoughts on ACC Football for 2011.

Less than 24 hours to go before the college football season begins… I scored some Clemson\Auburn tickets which were proving to be difficult to obtain at a reasonable price, so I’m pleased to be to getting into that one. Anyone got any last minute thoughts for the ACC? I have a few… September 17th is …

Just days until College Football season begins, and we got some ACC Teams in action right away starting on Thursday with Georgia Tech playing Western Carolina and Wake Forest set to battle Syracuse. Best of the Conference Application Questions via Twitter.

Today it was reported on CBSSportsline.com that the Big 12 spelled out the “withdrawl procedures” for Texas A&M.   I thought oh man more expansion news, more who’s going… leaving, blah blah. Really I’m expansioned out… Then it’s twitter to the rescue. I wish I could credit the person whose idea this was, because heres comes the truly inspired Conference Application Questions. I had …

Hey NFL don’t go changing running quarterbacks.

I wrote recently about Cam Newton’s early criticism being unwarranted. My main reason for that is that rookie quarterbacks in the NFL will struggle we all know that. The Carolina Panthers can do some things though to make Newton’s transition from college to the NFL easier, and Gregg Doyel of CBSSportsline makes a very good point in his article “Pocket guide …

The early criticism of Cam Newton is unwarranted.

I debated posting anything this weekend, when all of our friends from North Carolina to the North East are under a deluge of rain and wind from Hurricane Irene. I figured though some of you out there could use a distraction. Here’s hoping that all of everyone dries out quickly. I’ve been watching and reading …

What to look for in Week 1 of ACC Football.

The College Football season is less than a week away. You read that right, in a week we can push all expansion talk, NCAA investigations, player arrests out of the forefront and get to the business of playing football. There will be plenty of time for that anyways down the road. I want to talk …

3 College Football Teams outside of the Top 10 that could play for the National Title.

Let’s face it pre-season rankings are an inexact science. In fact there are plenty of people that think the first polls shouldn’t be released until a month into the college football season. For teams that start the season outside of the top 10, to get to the BCS title game, you’ve got to win obviously …

What 2011 record will put an ACC football coach on the hotseat?

For the first time in years I really can’t name an ACC football coach that’s on the hotseat. I know Dabo Swinney’s name keeps coming up, but seriously he’s isn’t going anywhere. He’s only a year removed from an ACCCG appearance, and has been doing a wonderful job recruiting. That said for Swinney and the …

Quickly Breaking down the Pre-Season AP Top 25.

So the AP top 25 poll came out today. There’s been a lot of discussion about whether these polls should come in October, as they create an unfair advantage for the teams near the top. There’s always time to lose early and recover. Personally I don’t have much problem with them. They create conversation pieces, …

Greetings from the @hokieguru, a regular contributor to the @TalkinACCSports and @accblogger (http://www.accblogger.com/) websites. Texas A&M recently set up some major shockwaves in the college with a possible move to the SEC.  While the SEC has held off on expansion for now, the new Texas A&M chancellor is reportedly on board with a move.  Additionally: Mark …

A quick reaction to the nightmare of potential violations at the University of Miami.

In lieu of my normal Tuesday post “Articles from the ACC Blogosphere”, I have to put together few comments on the staggering list of potential violations committed at University of Miami. First here is the article at yahoo.sports, titled Renegade Miami football booster spells out illicit benefits to players where you can view the entire investigative report. …

What does the ACC need to do to ensure it’s future as a conference?

Texas A&M didn’t join the SEC this weekend, but the talks of expansion across the country are hardly over. There are rumors that the Aggies could join the SEC within 21 days, a year or not at all. To my personal dismay the ACC is often seen as a conference that will eventually get picked …

PGA Championship Final Thoughts: Golf’s newest American star Keegan Bradley Wins in a playoff.

Maybe American golf is going to be alright after all. 2 Americans Keegan Bradley and Jason Dufner put on quite a show in the year’s final golf major. Maybe they weren’t the most recognizable names, but if you are a golf fan it was a lot of fun to watch. US Golf has been waiting on its next …
