Florida State wins ACC, and clinches playoff spot behind dominant defense.

If you’re still holding to the absurd notion that Florida State isn’t a playoff team, I really don’t know what to tell you.

With a 3rd string true freshman QB Brock Glenn the Noles offense struggled. That is without question, but playoff-caliber teams find ways to win. That is what Florida State did against a solid top 15 Louisville team. Steward Mandel states the obvious.

FSU beat a Top 15 team while having to play a third-string freshman QB, never trailed, held a Top-20 offense to 6 points.

And now they’re a 13-0 P5 champ with 4 Top 25 wins.

They’re not getting left out, guys.

Going into the multitude of reasons why FSU should be included would only validate the lunacy of the discussion. What I do know, Florida State’s defense will go into the playoff playing the best defense of any team in the playoff. Brock Glenn would not be the QB starter in a playoff game. It would be Tate Rodemaker. That’s a different offensive team than we saw tonight.

The real question is the 4th team. Is it Texas or Alabama?

Let’s not make this complicated, because it’s not.

Nice win today by Alabama, but it’s a no brainer that Texas wins the tie breaker over them. You know because they played already and Texas won by double digits in Tuscaloosa.

Michigan, Washington, Florida State, Texas – now that’s a playoff semi-final that rewards tough scheduling, conference championships, and something called winning.

Congrats to Florida State – they faced the ultimate adversity. They lost the heart and soul of their team 3 weeks ago when Jordan Travis got hurt. They responded and persevered against 80,000 in the Swamp in a rivalry game. They faced a dangerous Louisville team playing for their first ACC title in a neutral site game.

They didn’t let media backlash questioning their resume affect them.

They took care of business, won an ACC Title and now they get ready to take their shot at a national title.
