2023 Week 9 ACC Football Power Rankings

14. Pittsburgh (2-5, 1-3)

Last Week – 11

Lots of officiating controversy against Wake Forest, but other than that Louisville win, it has been a nightmare season for Pitt. It will continue with a game at Notre Dame.

13. Virginia (2-5, 1-2)

Last Week – 14

I said Virginia had no chance against UNC. I was totally wrong, and hats off to the Hoos for an inspired performance to wreck the Tar Heels. Can they do it again at resurgent Miami?

12. Georgia Tech (3-4, 2-2)

Last Week – 6

Each time Georgia Tech has a chance to step forward, they flounder in a game they were favored in. Their bowl hopes are likely dead, and now they get an angry set of Tar Heels coming to Atlanta.

11. Wake Forest (4-3, 1-3)

Last Week – 13

Wake Forest held off Pitt, but a Florida State team eyeing an ACC Championship Game and the playoffs is coming to town.

10. Syracuse (4-3, 0-3)

Last Week – 12

Syracuse at Virginia Tech is huge for each team’s bowl hopes. The toughest part of the Cuse’s schedule is behind them.

9. Clemson (4-3, 2-3)

Last Week – 4

Clemson wilted on both lines scrimmage late against Miami, in an ugly loss where QB Cade Klubnik goes rogue with a called play in 2 OT. It all smells rotten in Clemson and heading to equally desperate NC State will be a fight for a low-end bowl.

8. Virginia Tech (3-4, 2-1)

Last Week – 9

Could Virginia Tech be one of the ACC teams to emerge in the 2nd half? It starts with Syracuse on Thursday night.

7. NC State (4-3, 1-2)

Last Week – 6

We’re about to find out if NC State or Clemson is the bigger hot mess this weekend.

6. Boston College (4-3, 2-2)

Last Week – 10

Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos is quietly turning into one of the ACC’s biggest headaches at QB. This team is getting better, and now faces a winnable game against UCONN.

5. Miami (5-2, 2-2)

Last Week – 7

Miami has been a roller coaster this season, but coming back against Clemson showed something. Don’t underestimate Virginia, but win that and Miami can still have a nice season.

4. North Carolina (6-1, 3-1)

Last Week – 2

North Carolina has no excuse for getting outplayed by Virginia in a disaster of a game. How did Mack Brown not have his team ready for this one with so much on the line? Last year a similar loss to Georgia Tech derailed the season.

3. Duke (5-2, 2-1)

Last Week – 3

Duke gave a game effort against FSU, but without a healthy Leonard for the whole game, it was just too much to overcome. They need him against Louisville.

2. Louisville (6-1, 3-1)

Last Week – 5

If Louisville can beat Duke which won’t be easy no matter who plays QB, they can still target a double-digit win regular season and a trip to Charlotte.

1. Florida State (7-0, 5-0)

Last Week – 1

QB Jordan Travis makes a pretty good team and potentially a great one. The Noles should be able to get to the Miami game 9-0 with Wake Forest and Pittsburgh in between.
