Louisville’s dreadful basketball season finally came to an end Tuesday. Quniten Post didn’t play for Boston College Tuesday, and the Eagles still won by 18 in an 80-62 victory.
With the defeat, Louisville finished the season 4-28 (2-18) NET 311, RPI 310, Ken Pom 292
Back in December, we speculated that Louisville could be the worst ACC team of the last 25 years, and listed some contenders including some winless ACC teams. Considering Louisville finished 3 total wins behind the next closest ACC Team, 2015-2016 Boston College, and dozens of spots worse in the RPI and Ken Pom, we’re going to call Louisville the worst ACC team of the last 25 years. It wasn’t really close either.
Are they the worst ACC team ever? There are 10 teams to compare against that we found from DukeBasketballReport.
Now, remember that Louisville lost by an average of 11.7 points per game.
Only three ACC teams won 4 or fewer games, and on the Duke Basketball Report, these were their rankings all-time through 2011.
Both Clemson and Georgia Tech lost their games by an average of 24 points. By that alone, I think you can’t say Louisville was worst. The Cardinals did make a spirited run at being the worst ACC team of all time, but will have to settle for finishing as the 3rd worst ACC team in history.
We will close out the Louisville season on this note.
There was never a challenge that could motivate, there was never an embarrassment that ever sank in.
It was a deconstruction of Louisville Basketball the likes of which no fan could have ever imagined. https://t.co/wlWZ2T7yVn
