Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans.
One thing is for sure – the ACC football coach of the year is coming from the Triangle – and it won’t be Dave Doeren.
I believe it’s Duke Football Head Coach, Mike Elko. Here’s why:
2/ Last year, Duke had 3 wins. Even if Duke doesn’t either of their last 2 games, they are bowl-eligible this year. None of us at @AllSportsDACC or our guest pickers saw that coming. That’s dramatic improvement and this only Elko’s first year at Duke. Devils have a good coach.

4/ You’re expected to do well if you’re North Carolina and recruited as well as Mack Brown & the Tar Heels have over the last couple of years. That rules out Mack Brown for me. Kudos to Brown for no Coastal chaos – winning games. Mike Elko = 2022 ACC football coach of the year.

Picking an ACC football coach of the year, is, of course, an inexact science. But last year, Duke looked like they’d have trouble competing in the Football Championship Subdivision (ACC) Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference. That’s not the case this year – they are tough out every time they get on the football field.
Mike Elko for ACC football coach of the year.
