The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 5.

Who takes becomes the ACC Favorite this weekend, Clemson or NC State?

ABC primetime, Gameday, and it could be the biggest ACC Game of the Year. It’s a top 10 matchup between Clemson and NC State, and the winner becomes the ACC Atlantic Division Favorite. The winner also becomes the ACC’s best chance of a playoff team. Both teams have shown flashes of being playoff caliber, but also 3/4 loss teams. Clemson gets this game at home. Sports betting says playing at home is usually worth a touchdown. That’s about the current spread. That could be the edge Clemson needs in what could be a bad weather game, but make no mistake NC State can win this matchup.

Can Florida State become an ACC contender this weekend?

Florida State’s restoration project is right on schedule. Mike Norvell has Florida Stae 4-0, with the win over LSU and win at Louisville. A great start for sure, but we find out this weekend if Florida State can truly contend with Clemson, NC State, and Wake Forest. The Noles get Wake Forest at home in a must-win game if they are to be an Atlantic contender. Wake Forest is not great defensively, but Sam Hartman and that offense are the real deal and will present a tremendous challenge to the FSU defense. If the Noles can get by Wake Forest, they just aren’t a feel-good story, they can win the ACC.

Does the losing coach of Louisville at Boston College need to update their resume?

Both Louisville and Boston College have had disappointing starts to the season. Scott Satterfield is in year 4, and Jeff Hafley is in year 3 at Boston College. Both have losing conference records during their time at their schools. It’s really hard to see the loser of this game recovering to have a bowl season, and that means one of these coaches may not return in 2023.
