Who wins the FCS Football Title?

  • Matthew:  North Dakota State University (NDSU) – but watch Montana State’s progress – it could actually be a rematch of last year’s title game and it could be a heck of a lot closer.  Montana State’s head coach, Brent Vigen, was the offensive coordinator for NDSU during many of their title runs.  If you’re looking for a trendy pick other than NDSU, I’d go for the Bobcats.  But, yeah, I still think NDSU is going to win the 2022 FCS National Title.
  • Jeff: North Dakota State, because who’s betting against that dynasty to start the season.
  • Ethan: NDSU. It’s because they are a powerhouse program and because of Matthew.  [Editor’s Note:  Well done! lol]
  • Dan: North Dakota State. They’ve won 9 out of the last 11 FCS national championships. That’s a run that looks like Virginia Tech’s dominance over Virginia. If you want to be the champ, you’ve got to beat the champ. And with JMU moving to FBS, their path looks even clearer now. When are we going to talk about how the FCS is dominated by schools in the Great Plains? Strange how they carved out their own niche of dominance in the FCS.
  • Sam: I got a feeling at some point here shortly, karma will come to NDSU for not making the jump to FBS. Look, I get it, this would be the worst time possible for that kind of investment from the program. With all the uncertainty of the future of major college football, the Bison are perfectly happy just stacking up trophies in Fargo. Still, it’s gonna run out eventually. This year, the title runs through the state of Montana. If Montana State can get a full year of a healthy Tommy Mellott at QB and Isaiah Ifanse at RB, then the Bobcats may run for 250+ in every game this year. Their bitter rivals, the Montana Grizzlies, will have one of the best defenses in the nation and San Diego State transfer QB is a dual threat guy who has a knack for just winning games. This season, it will all come down to the “Brawl of the Wild”.
  • Ben: N.D.S.U.
  • Tim: Montana has had defensive stars but they have an elite backfield and maybe a Power 5 quality QB in Lucas Johnson who transferred in from San Diego State after going 8-1 there on a legit top 25 team. Yes, North Dakota State is a powerhouse but they take a minor step back and crash out before the finals after not being the #1 team this year as Montana takes down South Dakota State for the title.
