Ranking the 5 best Tight Ends in the ACC for 2022.

Well, here we go. It’s time to start ranking the best players in the ACC for the 2022 season.

As usual, we hope you enjoy the rankings.

Previous and Upcoming Rankings

Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Offensive Linemen |
Defensive Linemen | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties  | Special Teams

1) Marshon Ford, Louisville

As Scott Satterfield and Louisville look to have a resurgent 2022, they have ACC’s best tight end to build around in Marshon Ford.

Ford is coming off a year that saw him have 49 catches for 550 yards and 2 TDs in a 3rd All-ACC season. He’s a noted quality blocker in pass protection as well, but it is his pass-catching ability that makes him a NFL prospect.

2) Gavin Bartholomew, Pittsburgh

The sky is the limit for Pittsburgh sophomore TE Gavin Bartholomew. His freshman year in 2021 had him on several freshman All-American teams. Bartholomew finished with 28 receptions and 326 yards with 4 TD catches. The 6-5 TE is a tough matchup for the opposing secondary.

If his blocking continues to improve, Bartholomew may find himself making national All-American teams in the near future.

3) Will Mallory, Miami

With Miami’s top two receivers gone, other players will need to step up in the Hurricane’s passing game. One of those players could be TE, Will Mallory.

Last year Mallory had 30 catches for 347 yards and 4 touchdowns. He’s excellent in the passing game as he is a strong route runner with good hands. With a big season, he could leave as Miami’s TE career leader in receptions, receiving yards, and TDs.

4) Davis Allen, Clemson

With its struggles at the QB position, we probably didn’t see everything Clemson TE Davis Allen is capable of. He caught 28 passes for 208 yards and 2 TDs in 10 starts. I’d double those stats with a fully functional offense and an entire year starting.

He has great size at 6-6 250 lbs, and he’ll definitely get a look from NFL scouts.

5) Nick Gallo, Virginia Tech

Nick Gallo is a TE that I think could have a breakout 2022. Last year Gallo had 14 receptions for 130 yards. At 6-4 250 lbs he has the frame to be a big weapon in the Virginia Tech offense. He was named the Hokies most-improved player in the Spring.

He’s not the first Gallo to play at Virginia Tech. His brother Eric Gallo played center at Virginia Tech from 2014 – 2017.
