The ACC’s 10 best conference football games for 2022 – (1-5)

We often look at the ACC’s OOC games, but what about the best conference matchup for the season?

Let’s rank the top 10 best conference games, with a look back at 6-10.

1) NC State at Clemson – October 1, 2022

Clemson being part of the ACC’s top conference game is not unexpected. NC State has not often been in this position, but to their credit they’ve earned this spot in 2022. NC State is experienced and talented on both sides of the ball. Clemson might have the toughest defense in college with the best defensive front in the country. The Tigers don’t often play ACC revenge games, but they have one here. This could easily be a top 15 matchup.

2) Miami at Clemson – November 19, 2022

Miami is trying to re-establish its brand. Clemson is the ACC’s brand. The Canes have a couple of tests before the November game, but it’s not a daunting schedule. Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke against that Clemson? Oh, that should be fun. These teams don’t play often enough.

3) Pittsburgh at Miami – November 26, 2022

Miami at Pittsburgh could be for the Coastal Division Title. The Canes have controlled this series and won last year, but Pittsburgh is your defending ACC Champion. I could easily see a couple of 1 or 2 loss teams in this one, which could set up a very intriguing finale for both.

4) Wake Forest at NC State – November 5, 2022

Wake Forest has quietly won 4 of the last 5 in this series, but the stakes just keep getting higher. Last year Wake Forest and NC State faced off as contenders in the ACC Atlantic. Wake Forest ended up winning the division, and the Wolfpack will be looking for payback. While Clemson should remain in the division chase, this game could decide which of these two teams remains in that chase. NC State QB Devin Leary vs Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman will be one of the best ACC QB battles of the season.

5) Clemson at Wake Forest – September 24, 2022

Clemson has won 13 straight against Wake Forest. Every game but one has been by double digits, but Wake Forest has something the Tigers want, and that is the Atlantic Division crown. The Deacs won more games than Tigers last year, even though Clemson won the head-to-head game. Both should enter this game undefeated and ranked. The winner gets a huge leg up in the division chase. The dynamic Wake Forest offense gets their shot at the talented Clemson defense.
