Which ACC Coach needs a bowl win the most?

As we head into the bowl season 10 ACC Teams made the post-season.

Everybody wants to win their bowl game, but some coaches need it more than others.

Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Miami are in coaching transitions.

Jeff Hafley is only in his second season at Boston College. Pat Narduzzi just won the ACC, and Wake Forest is ready to build a stature of Dave Clawson.

That leaves Louisville, Clemson, NC State and  North Carolina’s head coaches.

Clemson’s Dabo Swinney could use a win going into next year to prove that life will go on after Brent Venables and Tony Elliot. Swinney is a two time national champion though, a loss isn’t change what’s happening at Clemson much.

NC State Dave Doeren is still looking for that signature out of conference win. Would UCLA really constitute that? A 10 win season would be huge in Raleigh. If NC State doesn’t win though, the Wolfpack are still going to be in good position to enter next year in the top 25. NC State is on solid footing. Winning or losing isn’t a game changer.

UNC’s Mack Brown could certainly use a win after the disappointment of this year. From pre-season top 10, to 6-6 is not what was expected. Still he’s got a great recruiting class coming, and while there is some frustration with UNC’s fanbase there doesn’t seem to be a groundswell wishing him to be removed as head coach. Next year might be a little more critical.

That leaves us Scott Satterfield of Louisville.

While beating Air Force isn’t a program defining win, Satterfield is on thin ice after the debacle of a rivalry game against Kentucky. His recruiting class is in the 50s and the Cardinals just went 6-6. That’s not to mention the off-season dalliances with other jobs.

Satterfield needs any positive momentum he can find, I mean anything. A bowl win doesn’t bring the fanbase totally back, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt, and losing could make for an extremely long off-season and a 2nd straight losing season is not going to sit well in Louisville.

If there is a must win bowl, it’s the one for Louisville and Scott Satterfield.
