ACC Basketball Power Rankings after Week 1

We’ll add NET rankings later in the season.

15. Pittsburgh (1-2, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

Pitt opened the season with a 15 point loss to The Citadel. This could be a long season for Jeff Capel.

14. Virginia (1-2, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

You are who your record is. Virginia lost to Navy and got blown out by Houston. They won’t finish the season 14th, but they are there now.

13. Boston College (3-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last week: N/A

It probably be a rough year for first year head coach Earl Grant.

12. Miami (2-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last week: N/A

There’s already a loss to UCF, and then the Canes barely survived FAU.

11. Georgia Tech (2-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week : N/A

Georgia Tech has the distinction of having the lowest combined ranked football and men’s basketball team.

10. Louisville (2-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

Losses to Furman won’t help the ole resume. Louisville did beat the Navy team that thumped Virginia.

9. NC State (3-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

Losing Manny Bates for the season is a big hit. That definitely puts a ceiling on how far the Wolfpack can go.

8. Wake Forest (3-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last week: N/A

Wake Forest stands a great chance to start the year 5-0. Steve Forbes slowly turning thing around.

7. Notre Dame (2-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

This is a team to watch. They have experience with good guard play.

6. Florida State (2-1, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

I think FSU will be fine, but the chemistry isn’t there early in the season. It was an ugly 2nd half at Florida.

5. Clemson (4-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

The win over Wofford opened a few eyes. Clemson is doing better than most ACC teams by simply taking care of business.

4. Syracuse (2-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

Syracuse is only giving up a hair over 60 points a game. They have a chance to be really good.

3. North Carolina (3-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

Winning at College of Charleston is better than it looks. Issues defensively, but they put up of tons of points. Purdue will be a test.

2. Virginia Tech (3-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

We knew Virginia Tech was solid coming in, and they’ve haven’t disappointed. Schedule hasn’t been tough but they have dominated every opponent.

1. Duke  (4-0, 0-0) NET Ranking —

Last Week: N/A

Duke is the easy pick for the top of this list. They have the only ranked win by an ACC team so far this year, with their victory over Kentucky.
