Earlier in the summer, it seemed like a forgone conclusion that Comcast would have the ACC Network. This included a quote from Commissioner Jim Phillips.
Phillips told his audiences in Blacksburg and Charlottesville that he believes ESPN/Disney, the conference’s partner in the ACC Network, likely will strike a carriage agreement by September with cable behemoth Xfinity/Comcast.
At the ACC Kickoff days, it was hinted at again that progress was being made with Comcast.
Then there was the ACC Network appearing on Comcast last month during a “test”.
A month later though, nothing.
Clemson vs Boston College this weekend Next weekend is Notre Dame vs Virginia Tech among a variety of other games. According nexttv.com the current Comcast Walt Disney deal came to end Thursday.
The long-term agreement that has Comcast carrying programming from The Walt Disney Co. that was reached in 2012 is expiring Thursday, according to analysts Craig Moffett and Michael Nathanson of MoffettNathanson Research.
The ACC Network and Comcast are coming down to the 11th hour. I still think we are just days away from a deal getting done, but the two entities are making people sweat. That would be a big miss by commissioner Jim Phillips if this isn’t done at the conclusion of the current deal.
