ACC Power Rankings after Week 3

ACC Team of the Week : Louisville – for beating at UCF  42-35

14. Florida State (0-3)

Last Week: 14

Florida State was thumped at Wake Forest 35-14. With each passing week, this team gets worse. Louisville off their big win over UCF is next. 0-4 is a very real possibility.

13. Georgia Tech (1-2)

Last Week : 13

I really can’t move up Georgia Tech, as the NIU loss still resonates. It was a game effort at Clemson though. Let’s see what they do with UNC this week.

12. Syracuse (2-1)

Last week: 10

Liberty is no gimme that’s for sure this week, but if the Cuse beat them that would prove they are improved team.

11. Miami (1-2)

Last Week: 7

Miami had a listless sloppy effort against Michigan State. Central Connecticut should be a win, but Miami has been one of the ACC’s more disappointing teams.

10. NC State (2-1)

Last Week: 9

NC State didn’t do anything wrong in their win over Furman, but there’s zilch on the resume. Mississippi State just lost to Memphis too.

9. Duke (2-1)

Last Week: 12

If an ACC teams beats any Power 5 team it counts for something. Duke took care of Northwestern, and that’s a decent win. If they beat Kansas that’s a 3-1 start, and don’t count Duke out of being a factor in the Coastal.

8. Virginia  (2-1)

Last Week: 4

Virginia’s defense got shredded to pieces against UNC. They better be ready for a good Wake Forest team.

7. Pitt (2-1)

Last week: 3

Pitt beats teams they should, and loses to teams they should beat. The loss to Western Michigan was galling a week after beating Tennessee. That’s their brand. They should be able to handle New Hampshire, but who knows.

6. Louisville (2-1)

Last Week: 11

Louisville pulled of a stunner beating UCF in a high quality win. The Ole Miss loss isn’t looking so bad either. If Louisville plays with the urgency they had against UCF, they’ll roll Florida State.

5. Virginia Tech (2-1)

Last Week: 2

A flat start doomed the Hokies at West Virginia, but I still like them overall. They should be able to right the ship against Richmond.

4. Boston College (3-0)

Last Week: 5

BC hasn’t lost a game they were supposed to win, and that puts them ahead of most of the ACC. If they can beat Missouri, then the Eagles could have something.

3. Wake Forest (3-0)

Last Week: 8

The Deacs have been flying under the radar, but easily handled Florida State. If they beat Virginia then put them in the top 25.

2. North Carolina (2-1)

Last Week: 6

After thrashing Virginia, UNC is back where they are started as the ACC’s number 2 team. The offense is finding a rhythm. Georgia Tech is next.

1. Clemson (2-1)

Last Week: 1

Clemson’s defense alone makes this a very good team. The offense though is a total mess, and limits whether this team can really reach the playoffs. NC State on the road could be tricky.
