ACC Power Rankings after Week 2

ACC Team of the Week : Pittsburgh – for winning at Tennessee 41-34

14. Florida State (1-1)

Last Week: 5

The 20-17 loss to Jacksonville State was the worst in modern day history for the Seminoles. The defensive breakdown on the game’s final play was unforgivable. Wake Forest could send them to 0-3.

13. Georgia Tech (1-1)

Last Week : 14

Well after Georgia Tech beat Kennesaw St, we know Georgia Tech won’t go winless. So there’s that. Just don’t get anyone hurt against Clemson.

12. Duke (1-1)

Last Week: 13

Can Duke knock off Northwestern? That would be a nice win on Duke’s resume, and could change the perception how far this team team can go.

11. Louisville (1-1)

Last Week: 12

Scott Satterfield can earn a lot of goodwill back if Louisville can upset UCF… yea I don’t think it can happen either.

10. Syracuse (1-1)

Last week: 11

Syracuse’s defense looks improved, but the offense has issues. It was a 17-7 loss to Rutgers, but Albany should be a win.

9. NC State (1-1)

Last Week: 2

If it’s a meaningful OOC game against a power 5 team, NC State is going to lose. That’s what they do, and the program remains stuck. NC State had no business playing that flat against Mississippi State. Furman is this week.

8. Wake Forest (2-0)

Last Week: 10

Can Wake Forest take care of a reeling Florida State team? A win would put the Deacs in great position for a nice season.

7. Miami (1-1)

Last Week: 8

Miami didn’t get enough credit for beating a good Appalachian State team, even if it was close. The Canes are right back on schedule if they can get past an improved Michigan State.

6. North Carolina (1-1)

Last Week: 6

We’ll start buy UNC again if they can beat a solid Virginia team this weekend.

5. Boston College (2-0)

Last Week: 4

To reach their potential Boston College needed QB Phil Jurkovec healthy. Now he’s probably done for the season. They should be fine without him against Temple, but can they adjust without him?

4. Virginia  (2-0)

Last Week: 7

Virginia pounded Illinois 42-14. The season could take off if they win at North Carolina this week.

3. Pitt (2-0)

Last week: 9

The ACC has so few OOC decent wins in recent years, that when one happens it’s a big deal. Pitt winning at Tennessee 41-34 certainly qualifies. The Panthers should get to 3-0 with Western Carolina next.

2. Virginia Tech (2-0)

Last Week: 3

The Hokies validated the UNC win by beating Middle Tennessee State 35-14. West Virginia is a test, but a win could set the Hokies up for special season.

1. Clemson (1-1)

Last Week: 1

QB DJ Uiagalelei still looks off, but the defense is fine and Clemson cruised 49-3 over SC State. Georgia Tech provides another game to work out the kinks.
