ACC College Basketball Power Rankings after Week 9

#StayHealthy and practice social distancing.

We’ve added conference records, and .NET rankings via http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2021/net

15. Boston College (3-10, 1-6) NET Ranking 130

Last week: 15

BC hasn’t played in a couple of weeks. When they return they get to face one very angry FSU team.

14. Miami (6-10, 2-9) NET Ranking 161

Last week: 10

Is Miami going to be able field a team at this rate? They’ve had just so many injuries. Now there’s an improving Duke team coming up, and red-hot Virginia Tech.

13. Wake Forest (5-7, 2-7) NET Ranking 106

Last week: 14

Wake Forest has been competitive most of the year, but Steve Forbes has work to increase the talent base.

12. Notre Dame (6-9, 3-6) NET Ranking 80

Last Week: 13

Notre Dame has quietly won 3 of their last 4 games. Wake Forest and Georgia Tech are up next.

11. NC State (7-6, 3-5) NET Ranking 84

Last Week: 11

NC State is reaching Miami levels of injuries it seems. Can they upset Virginia and beat BC and get back into the NCAA chase?

10. Pittsburgh (8-5, 4-4) NET Ranking 88

Last Week: 7

For a moment this year it looked like Pitt could make the NCAAs, that moment has passed for now. What happened against Notre Dame? If they don’t split against Virginia Tech and FSU this week, those hopes may be dead.

9. Clemson (10-5, 4-5) NET Ranking 60

Last Week: 4

Clemson simply can’t score… This week is critical with home games against UNC and Syracuse.

8. Syracuse (10-5, 4-4) NET Ranking 51

Syracuse has a win over Virginia Tech that looks better with each passing week. If they can sweep Louisville and Clemson this week, it would solidify their NCAA hopes.

Last Week: 12

7. Louisville (10-4, 5-3) NET Ranking 46

Last Week: 5

Here’s the concern for Louisville. Clemson has been blown out the last 2 weeks by every decent team they’ve played, but they beat Louisville. The Cards have lost 3 of 4. Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Uva are this week.

6. North Carolina (11-5, 6-3) NET Ranking 47

Last Week: 9

North Carolina is playing themselves into the NCAA tournament, but they could use some quality wins. Games at Clemson and at Duke are this week.

5. Georgia Tech (8-5, 4-3) NET Ranking 55

Last Week : 8

Georgia Tech is clearly an NCAA caliber team. The win over FSU was impressive, but Georgia Tech needs more consistency. If they could steal a game at Louisville and beat Notre Dame, they will be solid NCAA position.

4. Duke  (7-5, 5-3) NET Ranking 62

Last Week: 6

Duke is playing their best basketball of the year, and if they sweep Miami and UNC it would go a long way towards the NCAAs.

3. Virginia (11-3, 7-1) NET Ranking 8

Last Week: 2

Virginia went into a shell late against Virginia Tech and lost. If they sweep NC State and Louisville they will be back on track.

2. Virginia Tech (13-3, 7-1) NET Ranking 31

Last Week: 3

You have reward Virginia Tech for that great win over Virginia, and that win over Villanova continues to resonate. Mike Young is your clear leader for ACC COY.

1. Florida State (10-3, 6-2) NET Ranking 24

Last Week: 1

I still think FSU has the highest ceiling of any ACC team, but Georgia Tech’s quick backcourt gave the Noles a lot of issues in a double digit loss. Games at BC and Pitt are this year.
