ACC College Basketball Power Rankings after Week 1

#StayHealthy and practice social distancing.

15. Georgia Tech (0-2)

Last Week : N/A

Georgia Tech had a disastrous opening week with losses to Mercer and Georgia State. Josh Pastner did as poor a job as any coach in the country preparing his team for COVID world college basketball.

14. Pittsburgh (1-1)

Last Week: N/A

Somebody named the St. Francis (Pa.) knocked off Pittsburgh in their first game. The Panther did come back and beat Drexel.

13. Syracuse (1-0)

Last Week: N/A

Bryant had Syracuse on the ropes, but Cuse snuck by with a 85-84 win.

12. Wake Forest (2-0)

Last week: N/A

Steve Forbes is undefeated so far as head coach. Wake fans will definitely take that start.

11. Notre Dame (0-1)

Last Week: N/A

Notre Dame had a respectable performance against Michigan State in a 10 point loss.

10. Miami (1-0)

Last week: N/A

I’m ready to see Chris Lykes doing what he does best, and that’s breaking defender ankles. Miami had an 18 point win over North Florida.

9. Boston College (1-1)

Last week: N/A

Boston College nearly beat Villanova, and then defeated a decent Rhode Island squad. Solid start for the Eagles.

8. Virginia (1-1)

Last Week: N/A

OK, there’s no chance Virginia will finish as the 8th best team in the ACC. Tony Bennett is too good. The Hoos have talent, but there is a penalty for losing to San Francisco.

7. NC State (2-0)

Last Week: N/A

NC State has cruised in their first two games winning both by more than 30.

6. Louisville (3-0)

Last Week: N/A

Louisville got a scare from Seton Hall, but survived 71-70. They’ve cruised in their other two games.

5. Florida State (0-0)

Last Week: N/A

We’re still waiting for Florida State to play their first game.

4. Clemson (2-0)

Last Week: N/A

Clemson looked deep and athletic in knocking off Mississippi State and Purdue last week. Brownell might really have something.

3. North Carolina (1-0)

Last Week: N/A

North Carolina got a nice win beating College of Charleston after last year’s debacle of a season.

2. Virginia Tech (3-0)

Last Week: N/A

Do I think Virginia Tech will end up the ACC’s 2nd best team? Probably not, but anybody else got a win the caliber of Villanova? I didn’t think so. A stunning victory for Mike Young who’s starting to make a habit of knocking off top 10 teams. They backed it up by thumping South Florida Sunday.

1. Duke  (1-0)

Last Week: N/A

We will find out more about Duke this week when they play Michigan State.
