Well we are still hoping there will be a college football season. There are plenty of posts regarding the probability of that, but if there is we’re going to have top 50 ACC players ranked for the season. We’ll largely take our top 5 at each position rankings for 45 of the 50.
Players 1-5 | Players 6-10 | Players 11-15 | Players 16-20 | Players 21-25 | Players 31-35 | Players 36-40 | Players 41-45 | Players 46-50
26) Dazz Newsome, North Carolina –#4 Wide Receiver in the ACC
We mentioned earlier that UNC along Louisville had a top 5 QB, RB, and WR. Here is the first of two UNC WR entries – Dazz Newsome. Newsome had 72 receptions and 1,018 receiving. He also had 10 TD catches. ProFootballNetwork calls him one of the top WR sleepers in next year’s NFL Draft.
Along with Dyami Brown, North Carolina has the best pair of WRs in the ACC.
27) Jordan Mason, Georgia Tech – #4 Running Back in the ACC
Behind a brand new offense under transition from the triple option, Georgia Tech’s offense struggled mightily in 2019 especially in the 1st half of the season. The one constant of the Georgia Tech offense was Jordan Mason. Mason had 899 yards rushing for 5.2 yards per carry average.
He’s as hard to bring down as any back in the ACC.
28) Asante Samuel Jr., Florida State – #3 Cornerback in the ACC
Asante Samuel Jr. was a 3rd team All-ACC performer last season. He led the ACC in pass breakups, with 48 tackles on the season. DraftScout.com has Samuel’s projected as 2nd round NFL Pick. Samuel’s has great bloodlines, his father played in the NFL. Asante Samual was a 4-time pro-bowler.
29) David Bailey, Boston College – #5 Running Back in the ACC
Playing behind AJ Dillon, David Bailey still had 844 yards on the ground with a near 6 yards per carry average in an honorable mention All-ACC season. A physical back Bailey looks to have a breakout 2020 season, as he takes over the lead back role at Boston College from Dillon.
I could easily see Bailey have a over 1,200 yards rushing this upcoming season.
30) Rayshard Ashby, Virginia Tech – #2 Linebacker in the ACC
Bud Foster might be gone as DC, but a very good LB returns in Rayshard Ashby for Virginia Tech. In 2019 he was named the ACC LB of the week 5 times, and led the ACC with 120 tackles in a 2nd Team All-ACC season.
