Wake Forest Basketball Coaching Candidates

#StayHealthy and practice social distancing

Back on March 10, we wrote it felt like the end of the Danny Manning era at Wake Forest.

It turns out that was the case, as Danny Manning was let go Saturday.

Wake Forest blog BloggerSoDear has their list of potential candidates,  and many of the same names show up at the Winston-Salem Journal.

Due to Danny Manning’s gigantic buyout, and further financial strapping due to the coronavirus, I’m not sure Wake Forest can go for a big time power 5 school coach.

John Beilein at at age 67 would be the number one choice. With several coaches coaching well into their 70s, and with what Mack Brown is doing at UNC, I don’t think the age is necessarily that big a factor. Thad Matta has the pedigree, and would be a solid choice.

UNC-Greensboro coach Wes Miller is also someone I would take a hard look at. I really like his familiarity with North Carolina and the region.
