UNC with stunningly good 2021 football recruiting start. (3 ACC teams in top 6)

Sports is and should take a back seat to what is currently going in the world, but we’re here to offer a bit of a distraction.

Quietly some ACC football programs are off to a recruiting start that frankly we just haven’t seen before in recent memory.

UNC, Clemson, and Miami are currently ranked in the top 6 by both primary recruiting services.

Clemson is it’s usual recruiting powerhouse. Miami still has the benefit of their fertile recruiting location, and can still produce highly ranked classes. We know it’s never been about the ability to recruit at Miami.

UNC though is the true shocker. Mack Brown showed last year with his consensus top 25 class that he hadn’t lost his recruiting touch, but his early 2021 work is astonishing – ranked 3rd by 247 and 4th by Rivals.

Check the commitments by Brown, and UNC has locked down the state of North Carolina.

In years past, North Carolina’s best talent typically leaves the state, but that’s not happening under Brown.

There is a long way to go in recruiting season, but the early momentum Brown has built will keep the Tar Heels in the top 15 for the duration.

Whether this translates into the UNC being Clemson strongest ACC challenger since the mid 2010s FSU team remains to be seen.

Clemson beats ACC teams into the ground because they are better at nearly position, and their backups are better than most ACC’s teams starters. If UNC can close the gap with recruiting and they came within a play of beating of Clemson last year then the ACC might again be more than 1 team race the next few years.
