41. NC State 23 #22 West Virginia 7 -December 28, 2010
It was Russell Wilson’s final game as a NC State Wolfpack, and he went out with a winner. Wilson threw for 275 yards and ran for 41. The victory over a ranked West Virginia team in the Champ Sports Bowl finished off a 9-4 season for the Wolfpack. It was NC State’s first 9+ win season since 2002.
42. North Carolina 39 Cincinnati 17 – December 28, 2013
Larry Fedora’s biggest non conference win so far in his tenure at UNC was a 39 – 17 over Cincinnati in the 2013 Belk Bowl. In front of partisan crowd in Charlotte, NC, the Heels beat a Cincy team that finished the season 9-4. After a 1-5 start, the Tar Heels won 6 of their last 7 games capped off by this bowl victory.
43. Wake Forest 34 #23 Temple 26 – December 27, 2016
Wake Forest hadn’t won a bowl since 2008 when they face a quality Temple team in the 2016 Military Bowl. The Owls came into the game 10-3 and were the AAC Champs. This was part of the ACC’s remarkable 9-3 bowl record that season. The victory gave Wake Forest it’s first winning season in 8 years.
44. NC State 10 Notre Dame 3 – October 8, 2016
It was the Hurricane game. NC State hosting Notre Dame was a highly anticipated game that Wolfpack fans had been looking forward. NC State didn’t disappoint their fans in the rain as they out-toughed the Irish 10-3.
45. NC State 52 Arizona State 31 – December 29, 2017
ACC teams had lost 4 straight Sun Bowls prior to NC State blowing out Arizona State in 2017. Nyheim Hines had 3 TDs in the victory. The win lifted the Wolfpack to a 9-4 top 25 finish. It was their best season since 2010.
