ACC Basketball Power Rankings with NCAA Analysis 2/21/2020

For Current RPI Rankings and Quadrant Wins http://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2020/rpi-live

This where I see each ACC teams’ NCAA Chances. On Sundays we post Bracket Projections from several sports sites.

1. Florida State (22-4, 12-3) Projected NCAA Seed 2

Florida State has moved to the top of the ACC, but a tricky week awaits at NC State then Louisville at home.

2. Louisville (22-5, 13-3) Projected NCAA Seed 3

The winner of Louisville and FSU will be number 1 in these rankings next week.

3. Duke (22-4, 12-3) Projected NCAA Seed 3

Duke got routed at NC State in an awful looking performance. Virginia Tech and Wake Forest are just what the Dr ordered.

4. Virginia (18-7, 10-5) Projected NCAA Seed 7

There are some in the media that think Virginia is on the bubble. They aren’t, and just need to win a couple of more games to lock up a bid.

5. North Carolina State (17-9, 8-7) Projected NCAA Seed 10

The Wolfpack have won 3 of their last 4 including a brilliant 22 point win against Duke. They are in the NCAA tournament for the moment.

NCAA Cut Line

6. Clemson (13-12, 7-8)

Clemson hammered Louisville last week. If they beat BC and Georgia Tech on the road, there’s a realistic path to the NCAAs.

7. Georgia Tech (13-13, 7-8)

Quietly Georgia Tech is playing some sneaky good basketball. If they win at Syracuse then beat Clemson, there’s a realistic path to the NCAAs. That sounds familiar.

8. Notre Dame (16-10, 7-8)

The Irish were lucky to escape the ACC’s worst team North Carolina.

9. Syracuse (14-12, 7-8)

Syracuse picked a bad time to lose 5 of their last 6 games.

10. Miami (14-12, 6-10)

Now that they are healthy, Miami is a team you don’t want to face. They have spoiler written all over them.

11. Boston College (13-14, 7-9)

BC just can’t put two good games in a row.

12. Pittsburgh (15-12, 6-10)

Pittsburgh’s season is unraveling.

13. Virginia Tech (15-11, 6-9)

Duke, Virginia, and Louisville are next. The Hokies season won’t be getting any better.

14. Wake Forest (11-15, 4-12)

With Duke next, I predict Wake Forest loses a third straight game.

15. North Carolina (10-16, 3-12)

North Carolina has yet to win a game in February. They just find ways to lose games.
