Best and Worst case record for Wake Forest football in 2019

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Virginia Tech | NC State | Clemson | Syracuse | North Carolina

Wake Forest
Dave Clawson has quietly done one of the best jobs in the ACC the last three years. With 3 straight bowl wins, and at least 7 wins a year, the Deacs are looking to take the next step in their program’s development. The days are long gone of overlooking Wake Forest. This is a team that cause a lot problems in the ACC Atlantic.

Will Go 8-4 (4-4) if:
The Deacs can start the season 5-1, or 6-0. The opening game against Utah State will be a tough one, but after that is at Rice, North Carolina, Elon, at Boston College, and Louisville. Wake Forest needs to take advantage of that manageable schedule.

The defense must improve. The defense was an abysmal 116th in the country last season. Even without Greg Dortch back, the offense will be a load to handle. It was very good last year, and it needs to continue to be. An 8-4 regular season is not out of the question.

Will Go 5-7 (2-6) if:
The defense is as bad or worse than last year. We’ve already told you that the Deac’s defense was ranked 116 last year. It also gave up 33.3 points per game. That’s a lot pressure to put on the offense. Less than half of the defense returns. There’s a real chance it could be worse.

Utah State, at Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, NC State, at Virginia Tech, and Syracuse are all difficult games. That could be 5 or 6 losses right there. Wake Forest drops another game anywhere and there will be no bowl for Wake Forest. Wake Forest’s season will depend on that start of the season.
