Best / Worse Case Record for :

Miami
The Mark Richt experience went as expected. He made Miami better, and won a division title. There were some notable wins, but Miami never returned to it’s former greatness. In walks in former DC Manny Diaz to be the next head coach to try and get Miami back to their glory days. Could signs in that direction start as early as this year? Diaz take his shot, where so many have failed.
Will Go 11-1 (7-1) if:
There is solid play out of the QB position. Will it be N’Kosi Perry, Tate Martell or somebody playing QB at Miami? It’s imperative if Miami is to have a 9+ win season that the the QB position is settled and gets quality play. @Hokiesmash_ASD is high enough on the Canes to call them his ACC Coastal favorite.
The defense if it lives up to expectations should be dynamite. The linebacker unit is the ACC’s best. The opening game against Florida is HUGE. If Miami can steal that, a double digit win season is a real possibility.
Will Go 7-5 (4-4) if:
That QB position remains a mess. Miami’s defense can only carry it so far. The Canes had a top 5 defense last season and went 7-6, with an offense that ranked 105 and a passing offense 113. Similar numbers, and games with Florida, Virginia Tech, Virginia, at Pittsburgh, at FSU, and at Duke could end up being losses.
No team’s fortunes will depend more on their QB play than Miami’s, because the Canes are talented on defense. They have enough playmakers on offense. The offensive line has some holes to fill, but their biggest question mark starts and ends with QB play. If it’s good they can win 10 or 11 games. If it’s bad the Canes will be headed towards another mediocre season.
