Looking at each ACC Team’s 2019 NCAA tournament bracket.

The brackets are set!  Let’s check in on each ACC team’s bracket, and how far I expect them to go.

Virginia – SOUTH #1 Seed

There will be no first weekend upset for Virginia this year. This is an elite team, that can has more offensive fire-power than their predecessors. A likely Sweet 16 matchup with Wisconsin or a Kansas State without Dean Wade shouldn’t scare the Hoos either. Tennessee could be a real problem if they meet it in the Elite 8. The Vols are an athletic and long team that is similar to the FSU team that beat Virginia in the ACC Tournament. I think Virginia gets by them and plays for the National Title.

Projected Finish – National Championship Game

Florida State – WEST #4 Seed

Florida State looks so physically imposing when they walk on the court <- That’s what I said last year and it is true this year as well. They have been more consistent than in years in past, so I think they can survive the first weekend. Gonzaga probably awaits in the Sweet 16, and despite playing poorly against St. Marys, the Zags can win it all. FSU can beat Gonzaga, but Zags should have a home court advantage out West.

Projected Finish – Sweet 16

Syracuse – WEST #8 Seed

Frank Howard’s suspension is a gut punch to Syracuse. I actually thought they had a shot to beat Gonzaga, but without Howard it’s just too tall a task. I’ll be optimistic and say they beat Baylor, but I can’t see them beating Gonzaga now.

Projected Finish – Round of 32

North Carolina – MIDWEST #1 Seed

North Carolina has been great the last few weeks of the season. They have a great draw in the upper half of the bracket. Auburn with their athleticism could give UNC some issues, but the Heels will survive. At some point UNC’s lack of a true big man will catch up with them, and it may be against Kentucky in the Elite 8.

Projected Finish – Elite 8

Duke – EAST #1 Seed

Duke has a ceiling no other team can match. If they shoot 35% from 3 for the tournament they are winning it.

Projected Finish – National Champion

Virginia Tech – EAST #4 Seed

I love Virginia Tech. They are getting Justin Robinson back, and Buzz Williams coaches guards as well as anyone in the country. They’d be a darkhorse pick for the Final 4 if they were playing anyone other than Duke.

Projected Finish – Sweet 16

Louisville – EAST # 7 Seed

Louisville is capable of playing with anyone in the America, but they struggled to close out games late in the year. They could face a Michigan State team they have already beat this year in the Round of 32. Michigan State will get them this time though.

Projected Finish – Round of 32

Aren’t you going out on a limb picking UVa in the championship game?
