Will Wade – Clemson and NC State relieved he never ended up at their schools.

Remember when Will Wade was one of the hottest names in coaching?

He was a former Grad Assistant at Clemson, and in 2017 his name was circulated as a candidate to replace Brad Brownell. His name was also tossed  around in Raleigh as possibility before Kevin Keatts was hired.

Now according to a Yahoo Sports Report Will Wade was recorded apparently negotiating an offer to a recruit.

A 2017 phone conversation intercepted by the FBI between LSU coach Will Wade and basketball middleman Christian Dawkins features Wade speaking freely about a “strong-XXX offer” he made in the recruitment of a prospect, Yahoo Sports has learned.

LSU is winning and they are winning big under Wade. They are 25-5 and are currently the SEC’s best team – Sorry Kentucky and Tennessee.

There is also a good chance their special season will end up with vacated wins and a load of embarrassment for LSU. It could have been Clemson or NC State.

There have been highs and lows during Brad Brownell’s tenure, but his basketball program has been largely clean save Jaron Blossomgame’s allegations of taking advance money from an agent before turning pro.  Brownell’s name wasn’t implicated.

NC State has enough going on with former assistant Orlando Early and their own possible NCAA/FBI issues, but nothing during the tenure of current coach Kevin Keatts.

Maybe if Wade had ended up Clemson or NC State those schools would have pulled in a top 5 class like LSU’s 2018 group and be looking at 25+ win season. I guarantee though Wade would have used the same sketchy recruiting tactics and those schools would be dealing with the fallout the way LSU is having too.

Clemson and NC State fans should be relieved Wade never ended up at their schools, because he’s toxic. I’m not sure Wade will ever coach again at LSU.
