Recently we reviewed the ACC’s best 25 OOC wins of the decade so far. Some really good wins got left off the list, so I decided for a little off-season reading to give you the best five OOC wins for each ACC team so far this decade
Click below for each ACC team
Virginia Tech | Georgia Tech | Duke | Virginia | Miami | Pittsburgh | Louisville | Clemson | Wake Forest | Florida State | Boston College | Syracuse | NC State
1.North Carolina 30 Tennessee 27 – December 30, 2010
Back in 2010, the ACC struggled for any Power 5 wins especially against teams from the SEC. North Carolina’s in the 2010 Music City Bowl got hard earned OT victory over the Tennessee Volunteers. It was season that ended on high note for the Tar Heels after year of dealing with a NCAA investigation. It turned out to be the last game Butch Davis would coach at UNC, but he left with a thrilling victory on game winning kick by Casey Barth.
2. North Carolina 39 Cincinnati 17 – December 28, 2013
Larry Fedora’s biggest non conference win so far in his tenure at UNC was a 39 – 17 over Cincinnati in the 2013 Belk Bowl. In front of partisan crowd in Charlotte, NC, the Heels beat a Cincy team that finished the season 9-4. After a 1-5 start, the Tar Heels won 6 of their last 7 games capped off by this bowl victory.
3. North Carolina 24 Rutgers 22 – September 10, 2011
Everett Withers only coached at UNC one year, but he did get UNC to a bowl game and had a couple of nice wins during the 2011 season. One of those turned out to be against a solid Rutgers team. The 2011 Rutgers coached by Greg Schiano team went 9-4. Future NFL Giovani Bernard had 2 TDs in the game.
4. North Carolina 27 East Carolina 6 – September 22, 2012
In Larry Fedora’s first season, he went 8-4. North Carolina defeated an 8-5 East Carolina team that was Conference USA West Division co-champs. It was another game where Giovani Bernard had 2 TDs.
5. North Carolina 40 Middle Tennessee 20 – September 7, 2013
Remember that 1-5 start we told you about for UNC in 2013? Well their one victory was a pretty good one. The Heels had a 40 – 20 win over a Middle Tennessee team that ended up going 8-5. Let’s be honest though, if these are still the best 5 OOC wins for UNC by the end of the decade – that will be a pretty forgettable decade when comes to OOC victories.

This is a truly pitiful list – and the main reason why fans of other ACC schools don’t believe the UNC football hype. The Heels haven’t beaten anybody of note among their P5 peers in nearly a decade.

Yep… UNC has set the bar pretty high pretty in terms of worst OOC win list so far. I’m not sure anyone can match that the rest of the way. Maybe Virginia? Nope the Hoos was better
