Our Fast Food Guide in #ACC Country

Cookout

Happy Monday, folks – hope you all are doing well in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) country.

As we pass the time before college football starts, we thought it would be fun to provide a fast good guide to our ACC readers.  This blog post is a guide to local fast food restaurants – you will see no Burger King, Wendy’s, McDonald’s or Taco Bell on here.  You will see no Pizza Hut or Dominos on here.  You will see no Subway on here.  When you’re on the road watching your favorite ACC team, you will need a place to get some convenient, fast, good-tasting food – and we’re going to serve up a nice little guide for you.  The restaurants below are presented in no order – here we go:

1.     Cookout.

  •  Locations:  Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Georgia (but there aren’t many in Georgia).
  •  What to get:  The Cookout Tray – you get an entre, two sides, and a drink for $5 and tax (!!!).

2.     Bojangles Famous Chicken n’ Biscuits

  • Locations: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky (thanks to @KilroyFSU for the catch on Florida).
  • What to get:  The chicken, hello, I know it’s early for some of you?!?!?!?!?!

3.     Waffle House

  • Locations: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Kentucky (thanks to @T0mahawkCh0p for the catch here in on Florida).
  • What to get:  Read this here.

4.     Smithfields Chicken N’ Bar-B-Q

  • Locations: North Carolina.
  • What to get: The Large Bar-B-Q platter.

5.     Five Guys Burgers and Fries

  • Locations: Everywhere in ACC country.
  • What to get:  The bacon cheeseburger and the fresh cut fries.

6.     Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers

  • Locations:  Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Kentucky.
  • What to get:  The chicken fingers (I just wanted to make sure you were reading this post).

7.     Chick-Fil-A

8.     Moe’s Southwest Grill

  • Locations:  Everywhere in ACC country.
  • What to get:  The tacos – a really good deal there.

9.     Biscuitville

  • Locations: North Carolina and Virginia.
  • What to get:  The ultimate country ham biscuit (a nice breakfast option for the road).

10.  Culvers

  • Locations: Wake Forest, NC (This is more of a Midwest chain, but it is making it’s way north from from the Carolinas).
  • What to get:  The mushroom and swiss butter burger.

11.  Whataburger

  • Locations:  Only in Florida and Georgia for now – but plans are to make it’s way north to ACC country.
  • What to get: Any burger on the menu – it’s a great place.  Literally one of the top 2 burger joints in the United States.  I’d say hand-in-hand with In-N-Out Burger.

12.  Krystal

  • Locations:  Pretty much all over the Atlanta, GA area, but they are making their way north.  Thanks to our friends at @CardSportsZone who reminded us that there are many Krystal locations in Kentucky.
  • What to get:  The three original “Chiks” combo for lunch – the three egg platter for breakfast.

13.  Primanti Brothers

  • Locations: Pittsburgh, PA area.
  • What to get:  Some of the best Italian sandwiches I’ve ever had are here.

14.  Zaxby’s

  • Locations: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia.
  • What to get:  Buffalo Wings and Things.

15.  Jersey Mike’s

  • Locations:  Almost everywhere in ACC country.
  • What to get:  Listen, we gotta have a sub sandwich restaurant on here  – and Jersey Mike’s fits the bill.

You’ll need a place to get gas – and the food at this convenience store has almost a cult like following:

  •  Sheetz – Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Kentucky

Also considered for restaurants:  Shake Shack, Hardees (breakfast), and Firehouse Subs.

If I’ve forgotten anything – or one of these restaurants is near your ACC school, please let us know.

Hope you enjoyed this!!  I’m hungry now!! Lol!!
