Boston College
Head Coach Steve Addazio has brought Boston College back to respectability. When he took over BC before the 2013 season, the Eagles were coming off a 2 win 2012. Addazio has put together 2 straight bowl seasons, and last year beat a top 10 USC team. His teams are tough and physical, but going into his third season at Boston College are the Eagles going to suffer a bit of a rebuilding year?
Will Go 8-4 (4-4) if:
Boston College can successfully replace all 5 starting offensive lineman. Addazio’s teams have been noted for their ability to run the ball. Two years ago Andre Williams won the Doak Walker Award. Last year RB John Hilliman and QB Tyler Murphy ran for over 2000 combined yards. Darius Wade will have to fill the big shoes of Tyler Murphy at quarterback. If he comes along quickly BC could be pretty good on offense. The defense should again be solid, and if they can carry BC early a 5-1 start is possible. I’m not sure if BC is talented enough to win more than one game off FSU, Clemson, Louisville and Notre Dame. That’s why I see 8-4 as the ceiling on this team.
Will Go 5-7 (2-6) if:
If the offense stalls out. There is the possibility the offense simply won’t be able to move the ball. A new QB + entirely new offensive line is usually not a recipe for success. The schedule is tough. Boston College could easily lose all 4 games to FSU, Clemson, Louisville, and Notre Dame. A game at Duke, to go along with NC State and Virginia Tech at BC are all dangerous. Of their ACC opponents I’m only sure that Boston College is better than Wake Forest and Syracuse. A 5 game stretch of Clemson, Louisville, Virginia Tech, NC State and Notre Dame from mod October through November could be too much for this team.
