Good to see the ACC try and do a little football self-promotion. Check out this article from the ACC Website celebrating some of the ACC’s football success this year. I knew the ACC had more top 10 OOC wins (2) than all other conference’s, but I didn’t know they led all conferences with top 10 OOC wins (5) over the last.

Wins Against Ranked Opponents Over the Last Two Years

  • The ACC has five wins over Top 10 nonconference opponents over the last two years, marking the first time over any two-year stretch in league history (2013 Clemson vs. Georgia2013 Clemson vs. Ohio State2013 Florida State vs. Auburn2014 Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State2014 Boston College vs. USC).
  • The five victories over Top 10 nonconference opponents the last two seasons are as many as every other league combined.
    ACC – 5
    AAC – 1
    Big 12 – 1
    Big Ten – 1
    Pac 12 – 1
    SEC – 1
  • Over the last two years, the ACC has seven victories over ranked nonconference opponents, tied for the most of any league.
  • Nine different teams nationally have defeated a Top 10 nonconference opponent over the last two years. Four are in the ACC (Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Virginia Tech), and no other league has more than one on the list.
  • Six different ACC teams have beaten a ranked nonconference opponent over the last two years, tied for the most of any league.
