Who paves the way and protects our skill position players? It’s those offensive linemen, that never get enough credit. Who are the ACC’s best? Similar to wide receiver the ACC is deep in talented on the offensive line.
Previous Rankings
Quarterbacks | Running Backs | Wide Receivers | Tight Ends | Defensive Linemen | Linebackers | Cornerbacks | Safeties | Special Teams
1) James Hurst, North Carolina
James Hurst was destined to be a great offensive tackle. He was one of the most sought after offensive linemen prospects in 2010, and he’s lived up to the hype. At 6-7 305 lbs, the senior has size and good athleticism. An All-ACC lineman last year, he’s projected to a be first round NFL pick.
2) Bryan Stork, Florida State
Who is the anchor of what is expected to be a very solid offensive line unit for Florida State? It’s center Bryan Stork. The 6-4 312 lbs center is a versatile player who has experience playing guard. He’s experienced having played in 35 games in his career and he’s on the Rimington Award watch list given to the nation’s best center. I’ve seem some sites that have listed Stork as the top senior center in the country.
3) Brandon Thomas, Clemson
Brandon Thomas is coming off a 2nd team All-ACC season for the Clemson Tigers. Scouts love his footwork, and he’s likely a 2nd or 3rd round NFL draft choice. When you have a quarterback like Tajh Boyd, you better have a good offensive linemen protecting his blindside, and that’s a player like Thomas.
4) Brandon Linder, Miami
Miami RB Duke Johnson was probably pretty pleased to see offensive lineman Brandon Linder come back for his senior year. Linder is the best of a talented offensive line unit for the Hurricanes, that is arguably as good as Florida State’s group depending on who you ask. He suffered a bit of a knee injury in the spring, but he should fine for the fall. You’ll see Linder playing on Sundays.
5) Tre’ Jackson, Florida State
You know your offensive line is pretty good when 2 of your linemen are among the top 5 offensive linemen in the ACC. Tre’ Jackson is the 2nd player from Florida State to make this list, and he’s a good one. Jackson is only a junior guard. Should he stay for his senior year he might find himself coming back as the ACC’s top offensive lineman. He’s 6-4 327 with good movement. He’s was originally committed to Georgia Tech, and wouldn’t Paul Johnson want him in his triple option offense creating huge running holes.
