Past Ask A Blogger – ACC Spring Football Reports
North Carolina | Duke | Virginia Tech |Maryland | Virginia | Georgia Tech
Good evening from @HokieGuru. I’m here today to discuss the ACC spring football practice with each bloggers from each of the 12 Atlantic Coast Conference teams. What follows is our interview with@akosnitzky on University of Miami football. @akosnitzky, Adam Kosnitzky, has attended most Miami Hurricanes home games since 1979 in addition to several key away games over the years. When he is not bleeding Orange and Green, he is a school administrator, as well as a college professor assisting master’s, specialist and doctoral students. He has published several scholarly in education. He is also blogs about the use of Blackberrys. In his spare time, he is a moderator on a large smart-phone site. Without further ado, here’s our interview below:
@HokieGuru: Tell us about your spring game – how was the turnout? Was the team well received?
@akosnitzky: The turnout had a loyal following and we hope to see increased attendance in future years.
@HokieGuru: What are some of the major strengths coming out of spring practice?
@akosnitzky: Still a lot of unknowns. At least 30 players who may have an impact did not play. We do know that some of the incoming August recruits will be expected to play on day one. Returning and expected starting QB Stephen Morris did not play at all in the spring.
@HokieGuru: What are some of the major weaknesses coming out of spring practice? In other words, what do you think Miami will be working on in August before the first game? What are the questions that you think have to be resolved?
@akosnitzky: Biggest question will be QB. While Stephen Morris is expected to start, Ryan Williams (transfer from Memphis) is expected to compete. Although, the last time the Miami QB position was this open in the spring, they discovered Bernie Kosar. RB position is also a concern with the early exit of Lamar Miller. It will be important to see who develops the most.
@HokieGuru: Fall will be here before we know it – what position concerns you the most?
@akosnitzky: WR position is a concern due to the early exit of Thomas Streeter. Phillip Dorsett and Alan Hurns will have to lead and make up for minimal depth. The defensive front seven is a concern because many attribute Miami’s performance of being 11th in the conference in pass defense last year was due to a poor pass rush.
@HokieGuru: Who are the new recruits that you are impressed with the most? Are there any that you think will get some major playing time right away?
@akosnitzky: Many expect incoming August recruits Mr. Florida, Duke Johnson to make an impact at running back and 5 star CB Tracy Howard at CB. We shall see.
@HokieGuru: Based on what you saw/read from spring practice, do you think Miami will be better than last year? Why or why not?
@akosnitzky: Unfortunately this spring did not offer a fair litmus test of what may occur this fall.
@HokieGuru: Give us the pulse of the Miami football program – what are are the Canes bloggers/fans thinking right now on the status of the program?
@akosnitzky: Miami fans care cautiously optimistic. The looming NCAA sanctions still play in our minds.
